1958.A year that defined São Paulo.
José Tjurs, a visionary Argentine entrepreneur, dreamed of creating the “Fifth Avenue of São Paulo”. David Libeskind, at only 26 years of age, gave that dream its form. Juscelino Kubitschek attended the inauguration. Brazil won its first World Cup.
The first shopping center in Latin America was born.
And in the very space where the legendary Fasano welcomed Nat King Cole, Marlene Dietrich and São Paulo's elite for a decade, Jardim Nacional now comes to life.

The Project
José Tjurs, an Argentine entrepreneur, acquires the land with a dream: to create the "Fifth Avenue of São Paulo". David Libeskind, at only 26, wins the design competition.
- 1958Inauguration
An Icon Is Born
President Kubitschek inaugurates the first shopping center in Latin America. Brazil wins its first World Cup. Fasano opens the Winter Garden for 2,000 guests.

The Stage of the Elite
Nat King Cole performs at Fasano. Marlene Dietrich, David Niven and Ginger Rogers frequent the venue.
